INSIDE OUR DIGITAL LAB
The center piece of National Camera Exchange’s
photo processing lab is the Fuji and Agfa digital lab (d-Lab) state of the art
photo processor. The d-Lab uses digital technology to automatically correct
flaws in an image; optimizing color, densities and improving underexposures and
overexposures. It can brighten up unwanted shadows – yet keep all the details of
the lighter areas automatically. And the unique color tone differentiation
enhances the richness of details on saturated photos. Even flash photos are
improved by automatically brightening the shadow detail seen beyond the range of
the flash. All of these breakthroughs in technology mean one thing: a better
picture for you!
ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST QUALITY PRINTS
POSSIBLE FROM YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA SHOOT YOUR PHOTOS AT A HIGH RESOLUTION
“The higher the resolution of the photo, the higher quality print you
can expect,” says Barb McGown, National Camera’s Golden Valley Lab Manager.
“Prints made from digital media today can be so good, it is hard to distinguish
them from film,” says Barb. “However, it is important to keep in mind that the
resolution used to shoot the photo will determine how sharp your pictures will
be. I often see people shoot their vacation photos at a lower resolution in
order to fit more images onto one media card. This is usually a mistake. The
print quality from these images isn’t as high as it could be. I recommend
shooting at the highest resolution possible – even if it reduces the number of
photos you are able to save at one time.”
KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST IN DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Another determining factor
in image quality is the resolution of the digital camera used to shoot the
photo. “Digital camera technology continues to advance rapidly,” says Barb.
“Digital cameras sold today provide a higher-quality image than cameras sold
just a couple of years ago.”
USE YOUR IMAGE EDITING SOFTWARE
Barb also recommends customers use image
editing software to manipulate the image before having them printed. “Try
playing with the brightness, contrast or color tones in your photos,” Barb says.
“This will help you control what your print ends up looking like.” Same-day
digital photo services are offered in our Golden Valley, Edina, Burnsville and
Roseville locations, or check out our new online digital photo
service.
